Moss okay with just one catch in win over Jags
The old Randy Moss might have whined about not getting the ball. The new Randy Moss couldn’t care less.”It didn’t frustrate me whatsoever,” the Patriots’ record-breaking wide receiver said after Saturday night’s 31-20 victory over the Jaguars in the AFC divisional playoffs at Gillette Stadium. “We got the victory and I’m proud of that.”
Tom Brady completed 26 of 28 passes, but connected only once with Moss, who caught 98 balls in the regular season. In fact, it was the only ball thrown to Moss all night, a fourth-down completion in the first half.
“They were beating me up a little bit in the first half,” said Moss, adding that he received double- and triple-coverage.
Moss and Brady had a sideline conversation late in the game, but there wasn’t any complaining, according to Moss.
“It wasn’t pertaining to the offense or trying to get me the ball,” Moss said. “It was just football talk, that’s all.”
The Jaguars played a deep zone, intent on not giving up big plays, but they let Brady work the underneath zones. And he did. Wes Welker (nine catches for 54 yards) was the primary recipient, although he was responsible for one of Brady’s incompletions - a blatant drop.
